Comparison of Attitudes of Primary and Secondary Schools Students to Large Carnivores, Especially the Common Wolf (Canis lupus) and Domestic Dog (Canis lupus familiaris)
Mejzr, Martin ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
Today, the issues related to the presence of bears and wolves in the Czech Republic are more frequently discussed due to their occasional occurrence. The significant part of the public still considers these predators dangerous and they even think that a man is supposed to be their potential prey. A lot of surveys confirming this have been already taken, but none of them was focused on the views of primary and secondary schools students. As they are a part of the school education system, their views on the large carnivores should be mainly shaped by it. A questionnaire-based survey was used to find the attitudes of students. The first part of the questionnaire focused on the students' opinions about the dangerousness of predators, its reasons and common wolf presence in the Czech Republic. The second part of the questionnaire is focused on the domestic dog, which has wolf origins. It deals mainly with the attitudes of students to selected dog breeds, dog domestication awareness and views on the so- called "fighting breeds". This work has been aimed at identification of attitudes of the primary and secondary school students from different regions of the Czech Republic to the selected predators. The survey was also taken at primary schools in the High Tatras Mountains, an area where all the large...

TUČKOVÁ, Hana
This bachelor thesis deals with the special drug detection dogs training and compares various dog breeds. According to the current conditions of Czech and foreign criminalistic odorology this criminalistic technique which uses olfaction of specially trained detection dogs is classified amongst the modern techniques today. The theoretical part describes the origin and the development of the domestic dog, pursued dog breeds, criminalistic odorology, special detection dogs training, dog's sense of smell from the anatomical and physiological point of view, dog handler's job, finding and distinguishing of various odors and general knowledge of odor and scent trails. The practical part evaluates which of the pursued dog breeds is the most effective, the most used and the most successful one in practice. The success rate of dogs according to their age, sex and the active period of service was also found out in the practical part. It was evaluated to what extend does the dogs' training frequency affect the success rate and which method of narcotics detection is preferred. All the data were collected by means of a questionnaire study. It was found out that the most used dog breed for narcotics detection is the German Shepherd, the second most used breed is Belgian Malinois. Of all pursued dogs (74) there were 34 German Shepherds whose success rate was 90,9 % and 23 Belgian Malinois whose success rate was 72, 99 %. It was found out that in 75 % the dogs are better in detecting plant-based drugs such as marijuana/hashish, cocaine, opium, some kinds of poppy seeds, tobacco, nicotine etc. The recommended dog gender is a male dog, the best performance can be expected with 5-6 years old dogs (3-4 years of active service). If the dogs are expected to carry out excellent performances, the training frequency must be adjusted to 7 times a week and the dog must be trained only in one discipline, in this case it is the narcotics detection.

Kolaříková, Kristýna ; Buttry, Ivana (advisor)
The aim of this work is the identification and mapping of important points in designing gardens for dogs, especially for large breeds. Work includes the most likely and the most common canine habits that can irreversibly damage the garden as well as a way to prevent it. Work also includes how to properly establish a garden that the dog your space eg.: to play on branding, rest and raking. Especially dogs who are bred to dig and bolting prohibit that activity can not. However, we can establish a garden so that her dog while raking destroy and to set it to a special place. Of course the tiny breeds such as the "Čivava" or "Krysařík", can never cause harm, how easily inflict "Labrador" and "Německý ovčák". The workflow will consist of a research environment in which they would be placed garden. Otherwise, the proposed garden will look on a small or large plot in the city and in the country. It is also important to know the type of breed that will stay in the garden. Hunting breeds of dogs in the garden can do more damage.
